Doming

Doming - A technique that gives old-fashioned labels 3D effects and more intense colors. Doming is a process that uses resin spread over a two-dimensional surface such as a label, plaque, badge, or other (already modified) materials. Using this method, we are able to create a 3D effect resembling a lens, and your logo or design will have more intense colors and textures.

The label can be a CMYK color drawing, a photo, or high-resolution text. Doming personalization is achieved by adding a layer of epoxy resin that acts as a protective cap, extending the life of a standard label. This customization process can be used for promotional and industrial products made from materials such as polycarbonate, vinyl, metals, paper, textiles, etc.

Advantages

- Durable domed labels;
- Scratch and impact resistant;
- Resistant to chemicals, solvents, and cleaning agents;
- Resistant to bleaching, even when used on the outside of the domed label;
- The domed label will retain its shape over time.

How it works:

An image, logo, or design is printed on a white backing using an inkjet printer. This backing can be cut to the desired shape, the excess paper is removed, and a layer of resin is spread at a slow, even speed over 2/3 of the label's surface. This can be applied manually or automatically (using a machine). It takes approximately 3 minutes for the resin to dry, then the surface of each domed label is checked for air bubbles or dust particles. To remove air bubbles, the surface is heated with a gas burner. Once any issues have been resolved, the domed labels are placed in a drying oven for 2 to 3 hours. The domed label is removed from the paper and placed on the item.
When you're looking for a promotional product that stands out from the promotional items used by your competitors, this technique can help you create new and unique products for your marketing campaigns.
